David Curtis King, 58, of Stephens City, VA, passed away Friday, January 9, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center.
David was born March 23, 1967, in Downers Grove, IL, son of the late George Curtis King Sr. and Maryln Sue (Greer) King.
He was a graduate of Park View High School in Sterling, VA and attended Abundant Life Church in Stephens City. Since 201,9 David was a Lead Inspector for Patriot Fire and Security, prior to that he was an Assistant Manager at Food Lion for 19 years. When he was younger David loved playing tennis and always had a passion for Civil War history and visiting historical sites. He enjoyed golfing with his family and friends, especially each year in Caledonia for Father’s Day weekend, playing softball alongside his son, coworkers, and friends, watching NASCAR, and rooting for his draft picks, and was an avid Miami Dolphins and North Carolina Tarheels fan, which he enjoyed talking about and watching with his grandson. David loved going to the beach with his family, especially Holden Beach in North Carolina. Lifelong memories were made while sitting on the beach deck beside his wife and family, playing silly games, eating chocolate ice cream, and enjoying the sunset while drinking a nice cold Pepsi. David loved game nights with his family, spontaneous day trips with his wife, golfing alongside his brothers and son, and playing poker with longtime friends. He tried never to miss his grandson’s basketball and football games where he would put on his referee hat and discuss “questionable” calls with his son.
He married Andrea Dowdy on April 21, 1990, in Sterling, VA.
Surviving with his wife Andrea is a son, Joshua Nathaniel King (Kristin); grandchildren, Connor, and Vivian King; his sister Lisa “Weezy” Smith; brother Michael Curtis King (Karen); father-in-law Lew Dowdy, Sr.; brother-in-law Lew Dowdy Jr.; sisters-in-law Lisa D. Hergenrather (Shaw) and Michelle R. Dowdy; and many loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Along with his parents, George Curtis King Sr., and Maryln Sue (Greer) King, David was preceded in death by his son Matthew David King; brother George “Tutter” King Jr., twin brothers Barry & Gary King; brother-in-law Michael Smith; and his mother-in-law Lila “Judy” Dowdy.
A visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Monday, January 19, 2026, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Pastor Mike Lewis officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
