Darlene Wells Kesner
Darlene Wells Kesner, 79, of Stephens City, VA died Monday, January 21, 2013 in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Kesner was born in 1933 in Madison, Virginia, at the base of Old Rag Mountain, in the future Shenandoah National Park, the daughter of the late Haywood and Daisy Nicholson. She was an LPN, retiring twice from Winchester Medical Center. She was a member of the Worldwide Church of God for 50 years, a graduate of Madison High School, and she received her LPN Nursing Certificate from Winchester Memorial Hospital.
Miss Nicholson married Dallas “Ray” Wells on February 14, 1953 in Washington, DC. Mr. Wells preceded her in death on February 7, 1992. Her second husband, Herman Kesner, preceded her in death on February 17, 2010.
Surviving are two children, Sherry Wells of Winchester, Virginia and Steven Ray Wells of Stephens City, Virginia, and two grandchildren, Grace Rae Hawkins of Winchester and Matthew Ray Wells of Herndon, Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Kesner was preceded in death by six sisters and three brothers, Gertha Nicholson, Zanis Fincham, Esther Kidd, Della Jones, Kelsey Nicholson, Delmar Nicholson, Stanley Nicholson, Lina Hurt and Carolyn Johnson.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Mr. Gerald Dulaney officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Terry Shirley, Terry Keller, Wayne Sullivan, Sonny Cubbage, Scott Nicholson and James Dawson.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
