Danny Gordon Funkhouser, 59, of Stephens City, Virginia passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017, at the Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.
Mr. Funkhouser was born in 1957 in Montgomery County, Maryland, the son of the late Berland M. and Anne Funkhouser. Danny worked for several companies over the years as a dedicated Tractor Trailer Driver but most recently driving for Emmart Oil Company. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to so many who was commonly known as Bones, Rainmaker and simply POPS. As an avid lover of guitars and listening to music, Danny also enjoyed fishing, working on and rebuilding old cars and semi-trucks, as well as spending time with his family. He will always be known for bringing joy to those around him. Danny had a special place in his heart for his late Jack Russell, Daisy, who was always by his side and passed away in 2014. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Mr. Funkhouser married Katherine Warfield on August 2, 1976 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife of forty years is a daughter, Karen Marie Funkhouser; son, Danny Funkhouser, II and his wife, Julie both of Stephens City, Virginia; three granddaughters, Marley, Kaleigh and Rylee with a grandson, Tyler on the way; four sisters, Ann Golladay and her husband, Ronald of Edinburg, Virginia, Dawn Funkhouser of Stephens City, Virginia, Kathy Elsea and her husband, Riley and Dale Jenkins both of Winchester, Virginia; and a brother, Michael Funkhouser and his wife, Cindy of Winchester, Virginia as well as many extended family members and close friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Reception Center from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Reception Center with Pastor Bradley Hill officiating.
