Daniel “Dan” Joseph De Wein, 49, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center.
Dan was born in 1967 in Buffalo, New York, the son of Kathleen De Wein and the late Christopher S. De Wein. He graduated from McKinley High School, Class of 1987 and was employed at Barefoot Communications. Dan was a very talented individual, with his passion of cooking he enjoyed watching Emeril on TV and everyone always looked forward to his fish fry. He was very creative with home improvements and new home construction projects, including the logistics and planning of the projects. Dan loved classic rock, especially Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith, and played the drums. He was a man of nature where he enjoyed being on his boat at Deep Creek Lake and the C & O Canal, as well as the night sky by just sitting back enjoying the stars. Dan was an avid Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan and was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving with his mother are daughters, Danielle De Wein of Seattle, Washington, Deanna and Mara De Wein of Myersville, Maryland; sister, Michele De Wein Thongsavanh (Thong) of Manassas, Virginia; brothers, Christopher De Wein (Jeravee) of Augusta, West Virginia and Joseph De Wein, Sr. of Winchester, Virginia; nieces and nephews, Joseph De Wein, Jr., Lillian Thongsavanh, Owen De Wein, and Abigail De Wein.
Dan was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Lynn De Wein.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 am on Monday, June 12, 2017 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Dan may be made to Winchester SPCA, 115 Featherbed Lane, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
