Daniel Andrew Crabill, 70, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Monday, September 12, 2016, at his home.
Mr. Crabill was born in 1946 in Winchester, Virginia, the son of Naomi R. Crabill Hoover and the late Granville A. Crabill and the stepson of the late H. Denis Hoover. He graduated from James Wood High School in 1964. Dan married Toni Headley in 1974 in Winchester, Virginia.
Dan Crabill was an accomplished artisan. Dan exhibited his artistry with his unique interpretation of traditional designs in furniture, art and architecture. Of particular note is his distinctive repurpose of old wood and architecture components in creating rustic and colonial inspired furniture. One of Dan’s greatest passions was his meticulous building of majestic stone walls and the painstaking restoration of vintage buildings on Dan and Toni’s historic farm. During those rare moments of leisure, Dan was an avid student of history and spent most evenings reading and researching his wide-ranging interests.
Dan and Toni served the antique community over the past thirty years with the Summer Kitchen Antiques in Stephens City and most recently at their historic farm.
Surviving with his wife and mother are daughters, Christine Crabill Wismer and husband, Brian and Kimberly Crabill LeGrys and husband, Mark; son, Granville A. Crabill; sister, Carol Behn and husband, Jack of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; brothers, Thomas Crabill and wife, Henri of Florida and David Crabill and wife, Jan of Nampa, Idaho; grandchildren, Max Wismer, Lauren Suttles, Mary Grace LeGrys, William LeGrys and great grandchild, Emily Brewer.
Mr. Crabill was preceded in death by his son, Tristan N. Crabill.
All services will be private. Arrangements are being handled by Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
