It is with heavy hearts that we mourn the death of a very special person. Dale F. Keckley, a special father, grandfather, brother and friend left this earthly realm on June 19, 2025, two days before his birthday, for a better place after a brief illness, of which he thought to be improving.
Dale was born June 21, 1961, to H.W. “Pete” Keckley and Dorothy Bailey Keckley. He graduated from James Wood High School with aspirations of being an entertainer. And he was. Dale didn’t have to be on stage to perform, his quick wit and upbeat attitude kept everyone he came in contact with shaking their heads with a smile on their faces as they departed.
His wit and attitude were just a small portion of his attributes. Dale was a singer, his one great passion. Through the years he played with many bands as lead vocalist. Till the day he passed he remained a loyal friend to each of those bands’ members, as they did to him. He made many friends and rarely met a stranger.
Dale was predeceased by his parents and leaves behind to honor his memory his daughter, Alexis Keckley (fiancé-Robbie Scott), his grandson, Cole Norton and soon to be arriving a new granddaughter. He also leaves behind sisters, Judi Malone (Charles) and Sandi Adams (Preston) along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and one aunt, Betty Nichols.
Dale had another family. His family at Garber Ice Cream where he was employed for many years. During his illness he was blessed to be rewarded with the time he needed to re-cooperate. Employees and staff would donate their vacation hours to see that he could continue to have health insurance. He was ever so grateful and spoke of ways to repay them.
Dale’s final resting place will be Mt. Hebron Cemetery and look out heaven. As we on earth are left to mourn his passing, he will again be performing on stage. Such entertainment heaven will never have seen, so he will probably need to clean up his act a touch.
On Friday, June 27, 2025, a Friends and Family night will be held at Omps Funeral Home from 7pm to 9pm. On Monday, June 30, 2025, at 10am a Graveside Service will be held at Mt. Hebron Cemetery.
The family of Dale would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to all who had helped Dale during his illness and after his passing. The devotion to him has been overwhelming.
