Daisy I. Calvert
Daisy Isabelle Calvert, 93, of Winchester, Virginia died Monday, August 8, 2016 in Timbrook Adult Home surrounded by her loving family.
Daisy was born October 10, 1922 in Gore, Virginia, the daughter of the late Carl and Vernie Anderson. She retired from Winchester Memorial Hospital after 30 years of service. Daisy was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 824 for many years, and a member of the Senior Center in Winchester, Virginia where she had been a Valentine Queen. Daisy loved to sing, dance, and play her guitar.
Her second husband, Charles Lee Ritenour, preceded her in death on August 29, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her third husband, Charles Calvert on November 3, 2004.
Surviving is her loving niece, Hilda Bowman of Winchester, Virginia; nephew, Roy Barr (Jane) of Winchester, Virginia; great niece and caregiver, Janet Bowman of Annandale, Virginia; great nephew, Warren Bowman of Winchester, Virginia; great nephew James Bowman (Tammy) of Ash, North Carolina; stepson, Ricky Calvert of New Caney, Texas; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Daisy was preceded in death by sisters, Edith Smeltzer, Virgie Anderson, Ethel Barr and husband, James Lohring Barr, who were like a mother and father to her; brother, Warner Anderson; first husband, Arnold Bartley.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. with a funeral service to follow at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Vernon Bray officiating at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Street. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery, Stephens City, Virginia.
