Curtis L. Bright, Jr., 67 of Cross Junction, VA, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, quietly at home surrounded by his family and pets.
Curtis was born in 1956 in New Eagle, PA, the son of the late Curtis L. Bright, Sr. and Elsie Elaine (Weible) Bright. He graduated from Ringgold High School, Class of 1974. Curtis served our country during the Cold War in the United States Army. During his time in the military, he spent time at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, 2 years in Bamburg, Germany in the 1st armored division and finished his service with the 101st airborne division in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky and was honorably discharged with the rank of E-4. He was a member of the NRA and Golden Eagle. Curtis loved fishing, riding his Polaris Ranger, shooting, hiking, camping, making his own beer and at one time was even a professional grade saxophonist and bass guitar player. He loved all animals and wildlife and had an awesome sense of humor and a heart of gold. Curtis was known for his strong work ethic and was an extremely dedicated husband.
Having been together since 1989, he married Cynthia Sue Luhring on November 1, 2003 in Winchester, VA.
Curtis is survived by his wife, Cynthia; step-daughter, Melissa Ellis; grandchildren, Alexis, Jagger and Macy Ellis; nieces, Lindsay O’gan (Tate) and Felicia Bright; nephews, Tyler Bright (Ashley) and Patrick “Oscar” Bright; brothers, Tim Bright (Barbara), Eugene Bright (Denise) and Patrick Bright; niece and goddaughter, Valerie E. Gibson (Josh); great-nieces and nephews, Gemma Gibson, Grady O’gan and Hazel O’gan; step-nephews, Tyler “Two Beers” Sanders and Ryan Sanders.

A visitation will be held for Curtis on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 12pm with a service to follow at 1:30pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
