COREY BENJAMIN “CB” OMPS
On May 15, 2015, our beloved son and brother, Corey Benjamin Omps, departed this world.
Corey was born on August 11, 1981, in Winchester, the son of John E. & Alecia Mildred (Millie) Omps. He was a graduate of Clarke County High School, Class of 2000 and the Nashville Auto Diesel College. Corey previously worked for Virginia Truck Center in Weyers Cave, Virginia. He was presently employed as Shop Supervisor with H. H. Omps Trucking Company, where he supervised day to day operations while working closely with his Dad. He was taking leadership in the shop, and was a great mechanic and enjoyed working on diesel trucks, and helping friends with their trucks, pulling trucks and cars.
He enjoyed deer hunting, and had several deer mounts hanging on the walls in his parent’s home. Three years ago, Corey decided he wanted a pulling truck and had great success in pulling while driving “The Real Deal”, a bright blue diesel pulling truck. Corey pulled in Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Indiana and Kentucky while black smoke rumbled out of the stack.
Corey will be greatly missed by his family and wonderful friends. He had a wonderful smile, a twinkle in his eyes, and a laugh that brought a smile to everyone’s face.
In addition to his parents of Clarke County, Virginia, he is survived by two brothers, Herschel James Omps of Berryville, Virginia, Aaron Keith Omps, and his wife, Misty, of Stephens City, Virginia, and his maternal Grandmother, Lucille F. Hughes of Winchester VA. Corey leaves behind Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and so many great friends, including his devoted dog Muzzie better known as “Muzz”. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, H. Herschel & Nellie Horner Omps, and his Granddaddy James Mac Hughes.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, on Friday at 11:00 AM, with Funeral Celebrant Joseph R. Dilleree officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Frederick County, Virginia followed by a reception at the Gore Fire and Rescue Hall.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Long, Brandon Smoot, Mike Wilson, Andy McIntire, Brad Broy, and Billy Bowmaster. Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Lineweaver, Jason Wiles, Josh Scruggs, John Rutherford, Mark Wilson, Jason Zambini, Rob Morris, Donny Milburn, Joe Reed, and Dave Crosen.
