Corenia Grey Combs (Short), 90, of Mathias, West Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at E.A. Hawse Nursing Home in Baker, West Virginia.

Born on August 15, 1936, in Camden-On-Gauley, West Virginia, Corenia was the cherished daughter of the late Okey E. Short and Velmer Short (Russell). She was a graduate of Cowen High School in Cowen, WV. A dedicated and hardworking woman, Corenia spent 15 years working for O’Sullivan Corporation while also devoting her life to caring for her family as a homemaker.

Corenia was a member of the New Dale Church of the Brethren in Baker, West Virginia. In her free time, she found great joy in quilting and enjoyed trips to the casinos. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family.

She was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Lawrence E. Combs, in 1971 in Winchester, Virginia.

Corenia is survived by her husband, Lawrence E. Combs; her step-sons, Richard Combs (Tammy) and Larry Combs (Shelly); her niece, Teresa Sager; her grandchildren, Nathan David Boggs (Rhonda Lee), Kevin Dale Boggs (Ashley), Ashley Lynn Combs, and Bradley Allen Combs; 9 great-grandchildren, Ethan Michel Boggs, Gabriel Dominic Boggs, Sadie Rose Boggs, Emily Claire Boggs, Kaylee Marie Morris, Eli Hunter Morris, Elani Grace Boggs, Dakota Evelyn Boggs, and Nicholas Alexander Boggs.

In addition to her parents, Corenia was preceded in death by her daughters, Barbara Ann Boggs, and Erma Sue Boggs; her son, Ernest F. Boggs; her granddaughter, Elizabeth C. Boggs; four sisters; and four brothers.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2026 from 6pm to 7pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
