Connie Tresa Hornbaker Bell, 64, of Hagerstown, Maryland passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2019, with her four surviving children by her side; Fenicia K. Bell of Hagerstown, MD, Bobbie Jo Losch of Woodstock, VA, Charles S. Bell, III of Hagerstown, MD, and Coffi Bell Corbin of Nashville, TN.
Connie was born in Pennsylvania in 1955, daughter of the late Lester and Mary Hornbaker. She attended South Hagerstown High School. As a young mother of five, she faced many challenges but she was always devoted to her children and loved them without end. An avid lover of gardening, fishing and the outdoors, Connie found the greatest joy in sharing these simple pleasures with her children. Soil between her fingers, canning her crops or casting a line was truly her safe place of comfort. After becoming a Grandmother thirty-one years ago, her biggest love quickly became her grandchildren and her new role. And now, with thirteen grands and twelve great-grands, it’s fair to say that she’s mastered the art of being “Nanny”.
Surviving is sister, Donna L. E. Hose of Clear Spring, MD; brothers, William H. Hornbaker of Newport News, VA and Daniel C. Hornbaker of Martinsburg, WV.
Connie was preceded in death by her son, Michael D. Bell; and sisters, Bernice Aiken and Mitzie Netz.
