Connie DeHaven Robinson, 77, of Stephens City, Virginia passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Robinson was born on July 26, 1939 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late James and Dorothy DeHaven. She was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1957, where she was a varsity cheerleader from 1956-1957. She represented James Wood as Apple Blossom Princess in her senior year. Mrs. Robinson was a homemaker, devoted wife, supportive mother, and loving grandmother. She was a member of Opequon Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir for 50 years and loved music. She had helped with Opequon’s LOGOS Ministry Program, Vacation Bible School, and taught Sunday School.
Mrs. Robinson was past President of Frederick County Extension Homemakers Club, and a 4-H Leader. She was a Fabric Buyer for Leggetts Department Store where she traveled along the East Coast to purchase fabrics for the local store. Her greatest passion was her family. She was loyal, supportive, and loving.
Mrs. Robinson married her high school football player sweetheart, William Lee Robinson, on June 21, 1959 in Winchester, Virginia. Her goal in her high school yearbook was: “To make a happy home for Bill Robinson” and she succeeded. They were married for 57 years.
Surviving with her beloved husband of 57 years are daughters, Elizabeth Brady Robinson, Susan Robinson Homan and husband, Kyle Richard Homan; grandchildren, Blaine William Homan and Elizabeth “Liza” Gail Homan; sister, Bonnie DeHaven Pitzer and husband, Syd Pitzer; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and many loving friends.
Mrs. Robinson was preceded in death by her brother, James Ronald “Ronny” DeHaven.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 8, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted by Reverend David Witt at 11 am on Tuesday, May 9, at Opequon Presbyterian Church, 217 Opequon Church Lane, Winchester, Virginia. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
