Jeffrey Scott Voelkel, 53, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at Blue Ridge Inpatient Care Facility.
Jeff was born in 1964 in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Ray and Ruth Voelkel. He was a graduate of Brentsville District High School. Jeff attended Clinch Valley College and Northern VA Community College. Jeff was on active duty with the United States Army achieving the rank of Command Sgt. Major. Among his military accomplishments, he was awarded the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, the National Defense Medal, and the Iraqi Campaign Medal. He had a passion for military history (restoration and reenactment), was a member of AMVETS, and enjoyed gardening and reading, especially Clive Cussler, along with over 30 years in stonemasonry.
Jeff married LaTasha Voelkel, the former LaTasha Daniels, on June 11, 1993 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his beloved wife of 24 years is a daughter, Jazmyne A. Voelkel of Stephens City, Virginia; sons, Andrew S. Voelkel of Ft. Sill, Oklahoma and Trevor L. Daniels of Ft. Bliss, Texas; and many loving friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 17th, at Fort Belvoir Chapel, 5950 12th Street, Fort Belvoir, Virginia with Chaplain Patton officiating. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
