Colleen Fincham Unger, 85, of Winchester, Virginia, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Unger was born in 1925, in Rappahannock County, Virginia, the daughter of the late G. Raymond and Fenton Della Jenkins Fincham.
She attended Frederick County Schools in Virginia and was a member of Old Bethel Church. She was employed by Clear Brook Woolen Company for 27 years.
She was joined in marriage to Linden B. Unger, “Link”, December 21, 1946 in Hagerstown, Maryland. She was a loving wife and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband; her son, David Shanholtz and his wife, Cheryl; three grandchildren, Dalton, Kayla, and Breanna Shanholtz; two step-grandchildren, Liberty and Lacey Wrye; one god-child, Ashley Renner and her son, Tyrel; three sisters, Pauline A. Keckley, Rachel F. Taylor and Beatrice E. Fincham, all of Winchester, VA; one brother, Shelton T. Fincham of Berryville, Virginia, and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Unger was preceded in death by her one sister, Florine L. Clark and one brother, R. Kelcy Fincham.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with the Reverend Anthony Wadsworth officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Donald Unger, Boyd J. Unger, Fred Unger, Kevin Unger, Monte Unger, and Dwaine Unger.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Anderson, Mac Tlumach, Marcus Adams, Jr., Jim Allen, Donald Peacock, Glen Richmond, Tom Dean, and Ronald Sirk, Sr.
The family will receive friends on Monday afternoon from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
