Cledith C. Swisher
Cledith Cleo Swisher, 78, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in his home.
Mr. Swisher was born in 1933 in Frederick County, Virginia, the son of the late Vestal and Mary Swisher. He was the owner and operator of Swisher’s Auto Body Shop for 35 years and worked for Autobody Suppliers for 12 years. Mr. Swisher was a member of Church of the Nazarene in Winchester, Virginia. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America and the Shenandoah Valley Mustang Club. He was an auto racing enthusiast and a mechanic and sponsor of several local dirt track cars.
He married Alberta Puffinburger on June 28, 1951, in Hillsboro, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife is his daughter, Phyllis Harris and her husband, Tom of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sons, Gary Swisher and his wife, Cheryl of Capon Bridge, West Virginia, Brian Swisher of Edgewater, Maryland; one grandson, Lincoln Barnes of Clearbrook, four sisters, Ruth Wenger of Ephrata, Pennsylvania, Becky Van Meter, Marie Shifflet, and Margaret Clowser all of Winchester, Virginia and one brother, Cecil Swisher and his wife Jean of Winchester, Virginia.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor James Asberry officiating, Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park, Frederick County, Virginia.
Pallbearers will be Clark Sager, Frank Conner, Dave Conner, Sam Conner, Larry Anderson, Lewis VanMeter, and Roger Barnes.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
