I met Clark for the first time 3 years ago when he joined a hike I was leading at Harpers Ferry in the very Meetup group he had founded years earlier. It was great listening to all of his hiking experiences there at Harpers Ferry and the surrounding area. He was a fount of knowledge and enthusiasm.

I was involved with the Boy Scouts back from 1992-2005. Clark came to a summer camp with Troop 45. I understand he was a member of 45 in his youth. He showed me how to make a Dutch Oven cobbler on campfire. I still use the guidance he gave me back then. Fantastic Guy!! Frank Cocina Former troop 45 scoutmaster

Years ago I met Clark through Master Naturalist. After the class we had a chance to talk and I was impressed with his demeanor -- kind, friendly, pleasant. Right away I thought, "this is a special person." I saw him a few times years later... always at a nature-related event. Then, this past year, I saw his uplifting posts on Face Book. They centered around Godliness and Spirituality and I knew we shared more than just a love of nature. And I had been right all these years... he was a special person. My condolences to all who feel the loss of Clark not being here any longer, but I have great joy in knowing he has achieved his reward.

Clark was a member of Master Naturalists of WV where I first met him. I was instantly captivated by his smile, friendliness and wonderful voice. I thought of him many times while performing Master Naturalist activities trying to act as he would act. I will miss that man.
Joseph S Green left a message on December 16, 2022:
To the Family of Clark A. Dixon Jr., Clark Dixon was a friend of mine; a leader, a great teacher; and he “cared”. Clark taught me the value of volunteerism, the selfless giving of service - merely to empower and to enable others’ - personal life challenges & experiences of intrinsic worth and of life time value. We worked together in W. Va., Md., and New Jersey in roles as National Park Rangers, Managers and as Park Superintendents. We argued sometimes. I learned with Clark. We hiked the C&O Canal NHP. I am appreciative to have collaborated at least ten (10) years with Clark. I raise accolades for the life of Clark A. Dixon Jr. I applaud his legacy. In humility & love, Joseph Green, National Park Manager, Retired

I had the good fortune and privilege of meeting Clark at a Master Naturalist event at Cacapon State Park several years ago. His quiet, gentle way and his love for nature were inspirational for me. I would have loved to walk with him in the hills of West Virginia and soaked up his knowledge. May you walk those hills now on your own path of light, peace, and freedom, my friend.
