Pastor Clarence “Chuck” R. Davis, Jr., age 71, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2020, in Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Center.

Pastor Davis was born in Marlinton, West Virginia in 1948, the son of the late Clarence R. Sr., and Gladys I. Davis. Chuck was a barber in Marlinton for 16 years prior to receiving his Masters of Divinity from Eastern Mennonite Seminary in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Prior to coming to Winchester, he served as a pastor with the Pocahontas Congregation of the Church of the Brethren in West Virginia. He then served as pastor at Calvary Church of the Brethren in Winchester for 37 years. He loved studying the Bible and ministering to God’s people. Pastor Davis was a loving husband, dad, and “Poppa” to his grandkids. In his spare time, he enjoyed cutting wood, playing golf, and reading.

Pastor Davis married Linda K. Friel in Marlinton, West Virginia on June 30, 1968.

Pastor Davis is survived by his wife, Linda; two daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Corridon (Edward) and Lydia Ann Carter (Edward), all of Winchester, Virginia; and grandchildren, Clara Elise Corridon and Peter Edward Corridon, both of Winchester, Virginia.

A memorial service will be conducted at 6:00 pm on Monday, January 6th at Calvary Church of the Brethren with Pastor Jonathan Martino and Pastor Charlie Estep officiating. A time of gathering and a fellowship meal will follow the service at the church. Interment at Macedonia Church Cemetery will be private.

Sending love and prayers to Linda and family. Pastor Chuck will always be remembered as a wonderful example to me. He helped me so much when both of my parents passed on and gave them the peace of their salvation. God bless.

There are no words we can find that adequately express our love and deep respect for our pastor and his family. Pastor Chuck has been our pastor for nearly all of our 36+ years of marriage. We cannot imagine the future without him but trust that God will make a way for all who mourn his passing. We never left a service that we were not fed spiritually. We felt his frequent prayers, appreciated his wisdom and marveled at his quick wit and genuine openness. If ever there was a person called to be a pastor, it was Chuck Davis. He had the heart of a pastor and the truly unique gifting to speak with everyone no matter who they were or where they came from in the world. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Linda, Sarah and Lydia and your families as you make your way through this time of grief. May God's Holy Spirit bring you the comfort you need to walk this journey together. Steve and Brenda

Pastor Davis touched so many lives. His words always spoke to my soul. He was kind, gentle and impacted my spiritual life in ways I couldn't ever thank him enough for.

My heart breaks for the family, such an amazing man that touched so many lives & helped guide them to an invitation to eternity, Knowing Chuck is with Jesus makes me smile after time & again watching & experiencing his contagious passion for Christ. Prayers for the family, for comfort, peace & many wonderful memories.

Peace of mind is a call away. We're here when you need us most.

Remembering Chuck along with all of his friends and family. A beloved pastor, and servant, but most importantly a beloved child of the living God, in Jesus. His legacy continues in heaven and also on earth, through his many acts of kindness and faithfulness. We grieve with you, but not as one/s without hope. For our hope is in Jesus and we live on with Him!

Pastor Chuck was one of the most genuine, kind, open hearted, and loving Christian Men that we have known. The Love of Christ beamed from and through him. He radiated his passion for God through his words, actions, and love of his immediate and church family. As a dedicated servant, pastor, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, there is no doubt that this world is a much better place because of Pastor Chuck. He will be missed dearly and he will have a special place in all of our hearts. He is home!

Chuck and Linda and Family have changed my life. I am a stronger Christian because of all of them. When we were all alone at Christmas they always made a place for us. We always knew we were loved. , Chuck could get us to do what God wanted us to see and do , He never judged He did a lot of praying . The words he spoke were kind, gentle. and profound . I learned so much about our Savior by scripture , and example from both Chuck and Linda. Their Marrage was one most couples will never know. was truly the head and honor and respect where there for all to see. This was also seen by example in their Girls.
