Barry Smith left a message on December 14, 2013:
I moved to Winchester Virginia around 1985. I met Chris McArdle at the Vork Street tavern one evening after work, being new to the aree Chris struck up a conversation with me and filled me in on the history of the area. Soon I ran into him again and he invited me out to his home to meet his wife Caroline we became fast friends after that. Actually Chris became my best friend we spent many winters hunting together and I helped him do things around his house just like friends should do.He was probably the best friend I have had in the 30 years I have lived herr he was a great friend the kind of friend that would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. I had not sern him in a few years but knew he had not been well for awhile. I am very saddened to see him gone at such a young age. I will miss you my friend, take care Chris. Your friend Bear.
Linda Spicer Ryan left a message on December 15, 2013:
Chris and I met when we were both in our teens, working at a camp for retarded children and adults. He and I rarely saw each other over the ensuing years, but I occasionally saw his wife, Carolyn, and received updates on his health. I'll always remember his smile and how amazed I was at the details, people, and stories he remembered from those days at camp. My condolences to his family.
Christine Leatherman left a message on December 15, 2013:
I worked with Chris's wife Carolyn since 1993 and became fast and lasting friends with her. It was through her that I met and got to know Chris. Chris was always pleasant, friendly, outgoing. When I would call to speak to Carolyn, or when I would see him on occasion, he spoke to me as though I were an old friend! He and Carolyn had a wonderful love story, and I know he will be sorely missed!
