Christine Elizabeth Spitzer

Christine Elizabeth Spitzer, 74, of Winchester, VA passed peacefully away on January 9, 2010 at Royal Haven in Winchester, VA. She was surrounded by her family, including her soul mate and adoring husband, Ray Spitzer. As a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Elizabeth showered all around her with a love they will know and will comfort them for all of their days.

Elizabeth was born June 13, 1935 in Gore, VA the daughter of the late Bessie and Charles Hodgson, Sr. She married Ray E. Spitzer, Sr. on July 30, 1951 in Frederick, MD.

In addition to her husband of 59 years, Elizabeth is survived by her two sons Ray E. Spitzer, Jr. and R. Steven Spitzer and his wife Jalisa Reever, of Winchester, VA; three grandsons, Jeremy Spitzer and his wife Jennifer Spitzer, Jason Spitzer, Joseph Tusing and her granddog Ben Spitzer. She is also survived by five sisters, Esther Parrill, Betty Heusler, Martha Harrison, Elta Watts and Thelma Twigg; four brothers, Charles Hodgson, Jr., Conn Hodgson, Harry Hodgson, and Roy Lee Hodgson; along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Hodgson.

Elizabeth was a member of the First Christian Church.

A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, January 14, 2010, 2010 at 11:00 am, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Reverend Roy Riley officiating, with Reese Davis and Jeremy Spitzer as guest speakers. The family will receive visitors Wednesday, January 13, 2010 from 6 to 8 pm at the Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Burial will follow the funeral service at Timber Ridge Christian Church, Highview, WV.

Pallbearers will be Roy Lee Hodgson, Gordon Watts, Scott Watts, Jeremy Spitzer, Jason Spitzer and Joseph Tusing.
