Christina L. Umbreit
Christina Lee Artz Umbreit, 98, of Winchester, Virginia, died Monday, April 23, 2012, in her home.
Mrs. Umbreit was born in 1913, in Strasburg, Virginia, the daughter of the late Joseph Franklin and Lottie May Artz. She was a homemaker and a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Winchester. Mrs. Umbreit was a devoted volunteer for many years working with numerous community organizations, including Hospice and United Methodist Church Women.
Her husband, Walter Umbreit, preceded her in death on November 15, 1986.
Surviving is her daughter, Susan Iden and husband, Thomas, Jr., of Winchester, grandchildren, Dr. Thomas C. Iden, III and wife, Nicole, of Richmond, Amy Christina Lewis and husband, Abel, of Chesterfield. Christina is also survived by several nieces and nephews including three local nieces, Martha Lynn Pomeroy, Cecelia Elbon and Wilma Jane Smoot.
Christina was one of seven children and she was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, at Wesley United Methodist Church, with Reverend Michael Q. Mayton officiating. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg, Virginia.
