Christiana A. Fulton
Christiana Apel Fulton of Fayson Lakes, NJ passed away on June 1st 2012 in the morning. Christiana was born in Berlin, lived in Dresden, and studied at the University of Munich before marrying Tony Mendes and immigrating to the United States in the late1940’s following World War II. She had several jobs in the US, which capitalized on her multi-lingual, analytic and mathematical skills. In her last position she served as an international financial and credit analyst/manager at BASF corporation located in Parsippany, NJ. Christiana was an avid swimmer, sailor, tennis player and skier, for which she was awarded lifetime membership in the National Ski Patrol. She was known for welcoming guests to her home, where they could enjoy her carefully tended garden, sumptuous meals, and stunning lake view. Along with frequent cultural trips into Manhattan, she travelled throughout the U.S. and Europe, as well as to China. She and her late husband, John Fulton, enjoyed listening to classical music, dining, skiing in Vermont, and spending time with family and friends. After John passed away in 2009, Christiana moved to Northern Virginia to be near her son, Mark Mendes. Christiana will be remembered always as a strong willed woman of intelligence and impeccable taste who strove for excellence in all facets of her life.
