Charlotte M. Purtlebaugh

Charlotte Maxine Legge Purtlebaugh, 79, of Boyce, Virginia, died Monday, December 19, 2011 at the Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center.

Mrs. Purtlebaugh was born in 1932 in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late Clarke E. and Irene H. Legge. She was retired from VDO Argo, and loved crossword puzzles and spending time with her family.

She married Philip B. Purtlebaugh on February 25, 1956 in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Surviving with her husband are two daughters, Sharon Scothorn and her husband, Dennis, of Boyce, VA and Debra Gearhart of Craigsville, WV; a son, Charles Anderson of Hagerstown, MD; six grandchildren, Michelle Anderson, Jason Anderson, Brandon Anderson, Steven Anderson, Melissa Sipe and Nikki Harper; thirteen great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; two sisters, Shirley Rodgers of Winchester, VA and Dorothy Anderson of Albuquerque, NM, and a brother, John Legge of Walnut Creek, CA. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Heather Gearhart and Robert Gearhart, Jr., a sister, Helen Legge, and four brothers, Clarke Legge, Jr., Donald Legge, Maurice Legge and Allen Legge.

Pallbearers will be Rudy Rodgers, Keith Rodgers, Brandon Anderson, Steven Anderson, Steve Sipe, and Wayne Harper.

A funeral service will be conducted on Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel with Reverend Stewart James officiating. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
