Charlotte Elizabeth Still Hodges, 96, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Monday, March 4, 2016, at her home.
Mrs. Hodges was born on September 19, 1919, at home in Colliersville, New York, the daughter of the late Helen and Wingar Still. She was a graduate of Schenevus High School in Schenevus, New York, Class of 1936 and a graduate of SUNY (formerly State Normal School), receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1941. Mrs. Hodges taught elementary school and was a substitute teacher in New York. She married, became a homemaker, moved to Riviera Beach, Florida in 1964. She later attended Braddock Street United Methodist Church in Winchester when visiting in the summers – finally moving here in 2012. Mrs. Hodges enjoyed playing the organ, took ballroom dancing lessons, played bridge, collected antiques, and enjoyed staying in touch and writing to friends and family.
She married Robert Isaac Hodges on Easter Sunday, April 21, 1946 in Oneonta, New York. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1980.
Surviving is her son Timothy Hodges (Helen) of Winchester; grandchildren, Christy Pace of Clinton, Tennessee, Wesley Hodges and Robert Hodges, both of West Palm Beach, Florida, Taylor Hodges and Schuyler Hodges, both of Winchester Virginia; two great grandchildren and one great great grandchild in Tennessee.
A memorial service will be conducted this Friday April 8, 2016 at 3pm at Braddock Street United Methodist Church in the chapel with Reverend Frank Sherman officiating. Interment and further services will take place in Schenevus, New York in early May.
