Charlotte Ann (Susie) Updike, 69, beloved daughter, sister, and aunt of Frederick County, VA, passed away January 27, 2018.
She was born on February 1, 1948 in Front Royal, VA to the late Sherman and Mabel Updike. Her mother was her best friend, until her passing in 2000.
Susie had made her home with Shenandoah Valley Community Residences for 26 years. She shared the home with six other ladies whom she considered to be her dear friends. Susie worked at N.W. Works for many years.
Susie so enjoyed spending time with her family, whom she referred to as “my people”. She loved dancing, singing, listening to music, especially Elvis Presley. She also loved going out to eat, shopping, and all holidays. Susie always had one dollar and fifty cents. She had a great sense of humor and would say the unexpected, many times.
She will be greatly missed by her loving and devoted sister, Delores Updike of Frederick County, VA and brother Larry E. Updike of Frederick County, VA and Glen A. Updike (Genene) of Old Town, MD. Her nieces and great nieces and nephews will miss Susie’s happiness when she visited with them. She is also survived by 2 aunts, Della Mae Day and Louise Mills of Front Royal, VA, and many cousins.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel, then proceed to the Mausoleum Chapel in Shenandoah Memorial Park for a 2 p.m. service.
