Charles Ronald “Chuck” Darnell Jr., born on Easter Sunday, April 14, 1963, in Bellflower, California, and passed away on December 30, 2024, in Stephens City, Virginia.

Chuck was the beloved son of Charles Ronald “Bud” Darnell Sr. of Indiana and Ramona Loy Norman of California. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Dearing and her husband Dustin; his sister, Catherine Hamm and her husband Mike and nephews Tim and Jeff Hamm; and his longtime girlfriend, partner, and the love of his life, Marvis Milroy and her children Samantha and Andrew.

Chuck was a man of intelligence and diverse interests. He had a deep passion for Civil War history and enjoyed exploring the past through his collection of WWII memorabilia. A skilled ham radio operator and an enthusiast of flying model airplanes and helicopters, Chuck found joy in hobbies that reflected his curiosity and creativity. He also cherished the companionship of his pet rabbit, Charcoal.

Those who knew Chuck remember him as kind-hearted, generous, thoughtful, caring, hardworking, and dependable, a man who could always be counted on to lend a helping hand.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.  A Memorial Service will follow the gathering at 1:30 pm with Pastor Alan Morrison officiating.  A reception will follow the service at Omps Reception Center, Amherst Chapel.
