Charles R. Lewis, 69, of Winchester, Virginia passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Lewis was born in 1949 in Winchester, Virginia, the son of the late Charles and Mabel Lewis. He graduated from John Handley High School, Class of 1968. Mr. Lewis was quite the photographer. He would travel to Skyline Drive to photograph wildlife and the river, even had an article in National Geographic and photographs that were accepted by the Virginia Game and Inland Fisheries. Mr. Lewis enjoyed wood carving carousel horses and various items. He was an avid Redskins and NASCAR fan. His Collies meant the world to him, Lassie and the late Toby. He was a member of St. Paul’s on-the-Hill Episcopal Church.
He married Carolyn McKay on July 2, 2004 in Winchester, Virginia.
Surviving with his wife are daughters, Wendy S. Lewis of Standardsville, Virginia and Connie M. Lambert (Greg) of Winchester, Virginia; step-sons, Jamie Wade (Amy) of Stephens City, Virginia and Joe Wade (Michele) of Bryans Road, Maryland; five grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; and sister, Marian O. Wohlson (David) of Bennington, Vermont.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
