Charles “Carl” Robert Lachenmayer, age 71, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.
Carl was born on September 24, 1954, in Bethesda, Maryland, the son of the late Henry Adam Lachenmayer and Mary Jane (Burns) Lachenmayer. He was a graduate of Oxon Hill High School before proudly serving his country as a Chief Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy. Following his military service, Carl worked dedicatedly as a contractor for the United States Government until his retirement.
An active member of his community, Carl was a member of the American Veterans (AMVETS) and was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Winchester.
He is survived by his loving children: daughters Stacy Kirkpatrick (Rick) and Kirsten Lachenmayer Schultz; and sons Christopher Lachenmayer (Kelley) and Shaun Adam Lachenmayer. He was the proud “Poppy” of six grandchildren: Dustin Kirkpatrick, Dylan Kirkpatrick, Kaitlyn Lachenmayer Jones, Robert “Cade” Lachenmayer, Victoria “Tori” Kirkpatrick, and Darton Schultz; and the cherished great-grandfather of three great-grandchildren: Harper, Tinsley, and Selena Kirkpatrick.
Carl is also survived by his sisters, Kathy Strahan (the late Curt) and Elizabeth “Betsy” Livesay (Billy). Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Dinkins (Bob), and his brothers, Jack Lachenmayer (the late Lisa) and Paul Lachenmayer.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
A funeral service will take place on Friday, June 5, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the South Chapel, followed by burial with military honors at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
