Charles O. Neff
Charles Owen Neff, 71, of Stephens City, Virginia died Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in the Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Neff was born in 1940 in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the son of the late Charles R. and Naomi N. Neff.
He was a foreman with the Virginia Department of Transportation until his retirement in 2001. He was Co-Founder of AmVets Post 18, and was a member of the VFW Post 2123, and the Strasburg Moose Club. He was a 1959 graduate of James Wood High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served from 1961 – 1965. His hobbies included spending time on his boat, the “Moving On”, and singing karaoke, where he was known to many as “Charlie O.”
Mr. Neff is survived by his companion of 25 years, Ruth Haines; two daughters, Tonja Lei Fletcher of Stephens City, VA and Talyna Layne Indiero of Clear Brook, VA; a son, Tony Lynn Neff of Bunker Hill, WV; five grandchildren, Jason Scott Fletcher, Brian Allen Fletcher, Randy Lee Fletcher, Matthew Thomas Indiero and Dominic Victor Indiero, one great grandchild, Cody; and one brother.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at Shenandoah Memorial Park with Reverend Paul Campbell officiating. Military honors will be afforded by VFW Post 2123.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.
