The only time I remember seeing Charlie without his cowboy hat was at my son's home for Christmas dinner 2013. I remember him rocking by the woodstove and telling tales of the old Gainesboro School where he attended with my brother and husband.
He loved socializing at the Eagles and Moose social halls. He would volunteer anytime he thought he could be of help. Charlie was a UNIQUE person who was very opinionated. Because of this, he wasn't always "popular" but was mostly correct in his opinions.
He frequented the Sunnyside McDonald's where he socialized with friends over breakfast and read the daily newspaper. Charlie was smarter than most people realized.
Charlie loved his country music and the rodeo. He was a PROUD individual because he provided for himself on limited funds. He never felt he was better than anyone else or vice versa. He was HAPPY marching to the beat of his own drummer. Rest in peace Charlie.
