Charles I. Snyder, Sr.

Charles Irvin Snyder, Sr., 75, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Monday, October 29, 2012, in Blue Ridge Hospice Residential Center, Winchester, Virginia.

Mr. Snyder was born in 1937, Frederick County, Virginia, the son of the late Peter and Anna Elizabeth Snyder. He was a Mechanic for Winchester Equipment for 20 years. He retired from McDoles Library Furniture in 1997, after 10 years of service. Mr. Snyder was a lifelong farmer and a diehard Redskin fan.

He married Betty Linton on June 7, 1962, in Stephens City, Virginia.

Surviving with his wife of 50 years, are two daughters, Bonnie Carter of Winchester, Shirley Ricketts and husband, Allen, of Bunker Hill, West Virginia; two sons, Charles I. Snyder, Jr., and wife, Joan, Ronald Snyder and wife, Rhonda, all of Winchester; nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two sisters, Lillian Boone of Berryville and Marie Funk of Winchester.

Two sisters, Louise Snyder and Evelyn Abe, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Reverend Dr. Ken Patrick officiating. Interment will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
