Our Hearts are broken to announce that Charles Henry Luttrell, 82, of Winchester Virginia passed away on September 30, 2024.
Charles was born on June 14, 1942, in Winchester Virginia to the late Charles Russell and Mary Etta (Carper) Luttrell. He was the third born of four siblings. His siblings are Rose Mary Lockhart, Phyllis Etta Lockhart (deceased), and Russell Lee Luttrell.
Charles met Diana Lynn Greenlief at a dance at the War Memorial Building in Winchester in 1960. They were almost married 59 years ago, Oct 10, 1965, in a private ceremony in Stephens City, VA. Together they had 3 daughters, Donna Tatum (David) of Stephens City, VA, Tammy Lemon (Robbie) of Winchester, VA, and Kimberley Roach (Rocky) of Clear Brook, VA.
He had 5 grandchildren: Lee, Brooke, Tori, Madison, and Brady. He also had 8 great grandchildren: Laken, Christopher, McKinley, Ayden, Kaydence, Rowan, Emerson, and Ava.
Charles was a good, kind, honest, and generous man that loved life. He loved his family and friends. His heart was as big as it gets. Those he met always enjoyed being around him.
He often reminisced of all the wonderful memories of his life, like family gatherings, hunting, fishing, hanging out with his friends, and even working. And last, but not least, Charles loved
spending time at his beloved farm and the river.
He started working full time at Royal Crown Bottling Co as a young man. He retired from there after 52 years. He was a good carpenter, worked as a painter, and on occasion helped family members transport cars up and down the highways.
From an early age Charles attended every Luttrell Family Reunion that he was able. The reunion is a tradition of over 100 years. He instilled this tradition in his children as well as the importance of family.
He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles Club.
He graduated from James Wood High School in June 1962. He attended all of his class reunions for as long as he was physically able to do so.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024, from 6:00-8:00pm at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel. A graveside service will be held the following day on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at 11:00am at the Mausoleum Chapel at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
