Charles Edward Shaffer, 72, of Front Royal, VA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, in Winchester.
Born on June 11, 1953, in Winchester, VA, Charles was the son of the late Dorothy Mae Shaffer. He was a proud graduate of Warren County High School, Class of 1972. Following high school, Charles served his country as a Private First Class (PFC) in the United States Marine Corps. He spent his career working as a dedicated truck driver for a local trucking company.
Charles was a man who embraced life and his community. He was a member of the Front Royal Moose Lodge and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He found great joy in riding his Harleys and tending to his garden.
He is survived by his loving children: one daughter, Brandy N. Shaffer (Mike Smith) of Derby, NY, and two sons, Jaron Moore (Courtney) of Strasburg, VA, and Charles Emory Shaffer of Front Royal, VA. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Taylor Tewalt (Damion) of Edinburg, VA, his twin great-grandsons, Parker and Carson, sister, Dorothy “Peanut” Lewis of Myrtle Beach, SC and brothers, Wilson “Jesse” Manuel of Stephens City, VA, and Michael A. Manuel (Pat) of Front Royal, VA., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his mother, Charles was preceded in death by his siblings, Sharon Diane Palmer, and Donald “Tuck” Manuel.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at 12:00 noon at Michael A. Manuel Trucking, 341 Winners Court, Front Royal, VA 22630.
