Charles Edward McWilliams, Sr., 80, of Winchester, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center, surrounded by family.
Born on March 4, 1946, in Kensington, MD, Charles moved to Toms Brook in 1949. He graduated from Strasburg High School in 1964 and earned his associate degree from Blue Ridge Community College, becoming a certified tool & die maker in 1970. Charles worked as a plant supervisor at Kennametal, Inc. in New Market, VA, retiring in 2006 after 32 years of service.
Charles was a talented wood craftsman and enjoyed playing poker with his friends. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved hunting and fishing in the Shenandoah Valley.
In July 1968, Charles married Delores Glaize, and they were blessed with a son, Charles “Chuck” Jr. He was an attendee of Galilee Christian Church.
Charles is survived by his wife, Delores; son, Chuck McWilliams, Jr., and his wife, Charlotte; and two precious granddaughters, Pippa, and Campbell McWilliams. He also leaves behind his brother, Wayne McWilliams (Jeanette) of Friendsville, MD, and in-law, George Glaize (Carolyn) of Winchester. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Mary C. Holler McWilliams, and sisters, Betti Jessup and Norma McInturff.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at 3:00 pm at Galilee Christian Church, Clear Brook, VA, with a visitation at 2:00 pm. Minister Richard Rexrode will officiate. Food and fellowship will follow the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Galilee Christian Church or Winchester Medical Center Foundation Critical Care Fund or Valley Health online.
