Charles “Charlie” A. Taylor, 83, of Frederick County, Virginia passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017, at his home.
Charlie was born in 1933 in Frederick County, Virginia, the son of the late Emmert and Mae Taylor. He was a farmer and owner/operator of Taylor’s Exxon Station in Winchester, Virginia from 1971 to 1995. Charlie was a lifelong farmer and cattleman. He was a former member of the Winchester Moose Lodge, former member of the Eagles Club, former member of the Round Hill Ruritan Club, and a member of Welltown United Methodist Church. He was also an avid deer hunter and fisherman. In his earlier days, he was a fixture and “regular” at the Back Room in Winchester. Charlie was also a NASCAR (Bill Elliott), Redskins, and Orioles fan.
Surviving are sons, Charles “Randy” Taylor of Stephens City, Virginia and Raymond “Rocky” Taylor (Tammy) of Stephens City, Virginia; grandchildren, Chad Taylor (fiancée, Sara) of Gerrardstown, West Virginia, Shane Taylor (fiancée, Jessica) of Midland, Texas, and Chase Taylor of Stephens City, Virginia; and great grandson, Atticus Taylor of Gerrardstown, West Virginia.
Along with his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Fincham, mother of his children, Rachel Fincham Taylor, and second wife, Marcella Cooley.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. Pastor Leonard Young will officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
Serving as pallbearers will be Gary Oates, Norman Letourneau, Bob Williamson, Steven Ginn, Rodney Oates, and Tim Schott.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Tony Overbaugh, Larry Lamarr, and Corey Milburn.
