On Wednesday, November 6, 2024, Catherine Wilson Booth went to be with the Lord and those who passed before her. Cathy was born January 16, 1953, in Needmore, WV. She was a graduate of James Wood High School, Class of 1971 and a member of Fairview Church.
Cathy was a hard-working woman all her life; working at Henkel-Harris for over 20 years; Southeastern Container for over 15 years; and towards the end of her career she worked part-time at Caperton Furniture Works for 4 years.
Besides being the world’s greatest Mom, she was an avid baker and cook. She was famous for her chocolate cake, pumpkin bread, carrot cake, and dressing. Cathy was a faithful wife, mother, sister, and loved her Boston Terriers like they were her children. She never met a stranger and was loved by all. Cathy was a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan and Jeff Gordon fan. She enjoyed camping with her family, cruises, and NASCAR racing. She and her husband, Johnny, attended over 93 NASCAR races nationwide. Cathy also enjoyed baseball, where she used to support the Washington Nationals, but now the Philadelphia Phillies. Above all else, her greatest passions were her husband and three children.
She married John “Johnny” Booth on August 31, 1974 in Stephens City, VA.
Cathy leaves behind her loving husband of 50 years, Johnny; three loving children, Ginger Booth Matthews, Kevin Booth, and Mindy Booth Bates (Ben); Boston Terriers, Grace and Maddie; brother, Weldon Wilson (Anita); sisters, Mary Davis, Frances Perkins (Stephen), Carrie Sue Fleming (Larry); and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Delia and Oather Wilson; brothers, James Halterman and William Wilson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rob Pinkley, Joshua Woodward, Ryan Whittle, Brian Atkins, Bobby Davis, Jr., Patrick Gladden, Justin Parrish, and Brian Parrish.
A visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm on Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 am on Friday at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor John Lock officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Church Cemetery. A time of fellowship will follow at Fairview Church.
