Catherine A. Dunn

Catherine Aneva Packard Dunn, 63, of Winchester, Virginia, passed into the arms of God on July 29, 2013, at Winchester Medical Center.

Cathy was born on November 21, 1949, in Winchester, Virginia. She was the daughter of Frances and the late Don Packard, Sr. She was a graduate of James Wood High School. Cathy was baptized and raised in the Greek Orthodox faith.  She was married in and attended First United Methodist Church in Winchester.

Cathy was a co-owner of GL Dunn & Son for 36 years. She loved animals, especially horses, and was a gifted artist. Cathy loved singing and dancing and expressed this in performing with “Our Gang,” a 50’s-60’s floor show.

The greatest joy in her life was spending time with her grandchildren and family. Cathy was known to her grandchildren, Brandon and Samantha, as “Yia Yia.” She was a dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend and will be greatly missed by all.

Her wide smile, sensitive, brown eyes, and warm, open arms will forever embrace and keep us until we meet again.

Surviving with her husband, Gary Dunn, are a son, Chris Dunn and wife, Leslie, of Winchester, VA; two grandchildren, Brandon and Samantha Dunn; sisters, Barbie Dudley of Wardensville, WV and Robin Northrup of Winchester; and a brother, Don Packard, Jr. of Winchester.  Cathy was a fun loving, guiding spirit to her godchildren, Emily Dudley and Patrick Northrup.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00-7:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Street, Winchester. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
