Carrol A. Unger

Carrol Anderson Unger, 84 of Winchester, Virginia, went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 19, 2012, at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.

Mr. Unger was born in 1928, in Frederick County, Virginia, the son of the late Boyd V. and Bessie Pearl Unger. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Unger attended Bryarly School in Frederick County, Virginia.

He married Cornelia Gordon on November 26, 1947, in Hagerstown, Maryland. She preceded him in death on January 2, 2012.

Surviving are his children, Pamela Ginn and husband, Les, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Monte Unger, Dwaine Unger and wife, Cindy, all of Frederick County, Virginia, three grandchildren, Danny Unger and wife, Sara, Lance Ginn and wife, Brittany, Paige Ginn; two great grandchildren, Hudson and Ryder Ginn and one brother, Linden Unger of Frederick County, Virginia.

Four sisters, Evelyn Pent, Catherine Strowbridge, Hilda Miller, and Mary Boyce, and three brothers, Boyd J. Unger, Vernon Unger and Fred Unger, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel, with Reverend Jack Wampler officiating. Interment will be in Mount Hebron Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Wine, Fred E. Unger, Jr., Stephen Ginn, Kenny Frye, Don Unger and Bobby Tucker. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Omps, Philip Ginn and Harold Mummert.

Memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 West Cork Street, Suite 405, Winchester, Virginia, 22601.

My condolences to you and your family for the loss of your loved one Mr. Unger. I too lost someone very dear to me and understand how very painful and difficult it can be to deal with. One scripture that was a source of comfort to me was John 5:28,29, "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.....to a resurrection of life."
