Carolyn Yvonne Funkhouser Monk, 68, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Thursday, September 24, 2015, at Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Monk was born in 1946, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late John H. and Pauline E. Funkhouser. Carolyn was employed for over 30 years at the Winchester Medical Center, serving in many different capacities. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be forever remembered for her love of cooking, music, cross-stitch, crossword puzzles and beloved cat Xena. Carolyn possessed a one of a kind personality and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Her husband, Lowell Thomas Monk, preceded her in death in 2000.
Surviving are her daughters, Carole Judy of Stephens City, Crystal Whetzel and husband, John, of Edinburg; her son, Mike Monk and wife, Crystal, of Stephens City; 4 grandchildren; Robbie Judy, Rachel Judy, Matthew Whetzel and Michael Monk, Jr.; sisters, Joan Strosnider and husband, Roger, of Winchester and Linda Barb of Vansant, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Celebrant Joe Dilleree officiating. Interment will be private.
