Carolyn Beam Colfelt
Carolyn Helen Beam Colfelt, 66, of Frederick County, Virginia, died Wednesday, May 5, 2010, in her home.
Mrs. Colfelt was born in 1943, in Winchester, Virginia, the daughter of the late James E. and Marguerite Beam. She was a charter member of Sunnyside Presbyterian Church where she played the piano and organ as a teenager, the orgainist/ choir director for Calvary Baptist Church, organist for Cork Street Christian Church both in Winchester, Virginia and an organist with Opequon Presbyterian Church where she served for 17 years. Mrs. Colfelt was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Winchester, Virginia. She was a graduate of Shenandoah University where she received a BA in music, majoring in piano and minoring in organ.
She married James F. Colfelt, Jr. on December 26, 1966, in Winchester, Virginia
Surviving with her husband is her daughter, Joy Belle Colfelt Henderson and husband Victor, of Winchester; her son, James Colfelt, III and wife, Sarah, of Berryville, Virginia; two grandchildren, Ramsey James Colfelt and Penelope “Penny” Colfelt; one sister, Barbara Beam Wolford and husband, Kenneth of Winchester, Virginia, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of life service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Richard Reifsnyder and Pastor David Duckworth officiating. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Front Royal, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening, from 6:00-8:00 PM, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel.
