Carol Tomblin Bayliss, 82, of Berryville, VA, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at The Retreat in Berryville.
Carol was born in Winchester, Virginia on May 31, 1941, the only daughter of the late Calvin and Della Tomblin. She graduated from Clarke County High School in 1959 and began her career working for the Bank of Clarke County. She worked for the Frederick County Government for 30 years, until her retirement in 2003.
She married John “Pete” Levi in 1960 and had three sons.
She later married Robert “Bob” Bayliss on May 15, 1971, and remained married until his death just days before their 40th wedding anniversary.
Carol thoroughly enjoyed flowers and gardening, and entertaining family and friends at her home. She had a deep love of traveling, and she and Bob had the opportunity to travel abroad numerous times, including spending many vacations in Aruba with friends, and frequently visiting her beloved Ireland, where her mother was born.
She was a devoted member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and later St. Bridget of Ireland Catholic Church.
Carol’s memory is carried on by her sons, Sam Levi (Joanna) of Berryville, VA, and Kevin Levi (Teresa) of Winchester, VA; her granddaughter, Emily Hardesty (Doug) of Tampa, FL; and her great-grandson, Cooper Hardesty; as well as her niece and nephew and many friends and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers Reid and Donald Tomblin, and her son, John Michael Levi.
The family would like to thank the staff at The Retreat at Berryville for the care and love they gave Carol over the last year, especially Kendra and Chris, as well as the team at Blue Ridge Hospice.
A celebration of life will be held at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel on Saturday, April 27th at 11am with a reception to follow. The family will be honoring Carol’s wishes to have her ashes spread in Ireland at a later date.
