Carol Rae (Grimes) Treece, 90 of Winchester, passed away on Friday, March 17, 2023 at home.

Carol was born in 1932 in Welsh, WV the daughter of the late Earl and Florence Grimes. She retired from Apple Pie Ridge Elementary School where she taught 3rd grade. Carol was a member and past president of Stephens City Lions Club and a member of the local Retired Teachers Association. She was also a member of Opequon Presbyterian Church for 35 years and loved singing in the choir. Carol considered Opequon her family and was always willing to help out, where ever she was needed. She was a homemaker, educator and active in her church and community where she gave selflessly of her time and talents.

She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Dr. Jack M. Treece of Winchester, VA, son, Bradley E. Treece of Warren County, VA; daughter, Diana R. Treece of Winchester, VA and sisters, Shirley Murray of MI, Sally Bohen of VT and many cherished friends especially Tracie and Bill.
Carol is preceded in death by her parents and son, Daniel Joseph Treece.

A Celebration of Life for Carol will held on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 2:30pm at Opequon Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Carol to, Opequon Presbyterian Church Building and Grounds Fund, 217 Opequon Church Lane, Winchester, VA 22602.
