Carol Lynn Tomek, 83 of Winchester VA, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Winchester Medical Center.

Carol was born on April 17, 1942, in Milton, FL, the daughter of the late Roy and Linna Mae Oglesby. Carol was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church where she was very involved in church activities, especially in the choir. She was also a member of the Cedar Creek Valley Ruritan. Carol enjoyed cross stitch, reading, doing crossword puzzles, arts and crafts and watching wildlife as she loved animals.

She married Lawrence “Larry” Charles Tomek, Sr. on September 13, 1969.

In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Larry; son, Wesley Agustus “Gus” Hanks and infant grandson, Carson Tomek.
Carol is survived by her three sons, Lawrence Charles “Chip” Tomek Jr. (Elaine) of Vienna, VA, Derek Edward Tomek (Mary) of Harrisonburg, VA, Devin Jennings Tomek (Annette) of Capon Bridge, WV; grandchildren, Hunter Tomek of Chico, CA, Clayton Tomek of Winchester, VA, Carmen Reed (Tyler), Anthony Tenny (Amber) and Kerri Spiker (Robert) all of Capon Bridge, WV; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jayce Tomek, Sevryn and Serenity Tenney and Reid and Maddox Spiker; siblings, June Frey (Tom) of Seattle, WA, Linda Broker (Mike) of Navarre, FL and Charles Jennings “Joe” Oglesby (Nancy) of Fleming Island, FL; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Howitt (Elwood) of Streetsboro, OH and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held for Carol on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 11am at Mountain View United Methodist Church in Star Tannery. A luncheon will follow the service at the Back Creek Ruritan Club next to the church.
