Carol A. Ricketts

Carol Ann Ricketts, 66, of Stephenson, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at her home, surrounded by her loving husband and her three daughters.

Mrs. Ricketts was born August 26, 1945, in Frederick County, VA. She was the daughter of John Kerns and Virginia Renner Kerns, both deceased.

She was previously employed by Shenandoah Apple Corp. and custodian at Handley High School. She was also employed by Blue Ridge Industries Inc. and recently worked as cafeteria staff at Quarles Elementary School. She was a former member of the Winchester Moose Lodge #1283 and Clearbrook Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary.

She married Earl Ricketts, Jr. on September 14, 1962.

Surviving are her husband and three daughters, Rebecca A. Grimm, Melissa R. Peer, and Jennifer M. Seal, all of Frederick County; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; seven brothers, William M. Kerns, Donald R. Kerns, Douglas L. Kerns, Russell L. Kerns, Bobby E. Kerns, Nathan W. Kerns and one sister Clara L. Baker. A brother, Clifton L. Kerns, is deceased.

A funeral will be Thursday at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel at 1:00 PM with Pastor Carolyn B. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Christopher Grimm, Daniel Grimm, Jessica Newlin, Tyler Seal, Brandon Seal and Aaron Seal. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Seal, Scott Peer and Chris Clark.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, at the funeral home.
