Carol Ann Puffenberger (Eaton), 82, of Winchester, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Winchester Medical Center.
Carol was born on March 30, 1944, in Paw Paw, West Virginia, to the late Rodney Harding Eaton Sr. and Effie Virginia Eaton (See). She graduated from Paw Paw High School and later dedicated her career to helping others as a phlebotomist for Valley Health Services, from which she eventually retired.
A woman of the Baptist faith, Carol filled her life with the things and people she loved most. She was a former member of the Moose Lodge and had a passion for the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. She loved cooking big, comforting meals for her family, testing her luck at Bingo, and working on her creative projects, which included writing her own children’s book. Her beloved dog, also named Bingo, was a constant source of joy. Above all, she cherished the time spent surrounded by her family.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Denver G. Puffenberger, who passed away on August 27, 2024.
Carol’s legacy lives on through her loving family, including her daughter, Tamela “Tammy” Meade; her sons, Christopher T. Puffenberger (Sabrina) and Michael Puffenberger; her five surviving grandchildren, Dane Lynn Meade Jr., Ashley Michelle Meade, Courtney Nicole Westfall, Rachel Marie Puffenberger, and Morgan Amber Funkhouser; and her twelve adored great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters and one brother.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Daniel Lynn Meade, and one brother.
A memorial service at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel will be on July 31, 2026, at 11:00am with Pastor Lynn Durbin officiating
Interment will be private in Woodrow Cemetery in Paw Paw, West Virginia.
