Carol Ann Lewis, 71 of Stephenson, VA, passed away on Friday, February 21, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
Carol was born July 24, 1953, in Schenectady, NY, the daughter of the late Charles T. and Thelma Canfield Smith. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in Schenectady, earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA, and went on to receive her master’s degree from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY. She taught 1st grade at Dorothy Nolan Elementary School for 30 years until her retirement, a job she was very passionate about. Students and teachers knew her as `Mother Hen’, and she called her students her baby chicks. She enjoyed golfing, especially at McGregor Links Country Club in Saratoga Springs where her husband worked and always enjoyed a fun day at the races at Saratoga Racecourse.
She is survived by her husband, David Wayne Lewis, whom she married on March 20, 1976; sons Kevin Charles Lewis (Sara) and Bryan David Lewis; grandchildren, Jackson David Lewis, Adeline Diane Lewis, and Benjamin Richard Lewis; sister, Kathy Hallenbeck and also her cousins, niece, nephew and dear friends.

Carol will be laid to rest at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in New York at a later date. Please visit the website below for updates for the service.
