Carmel was a very nice & dedicated person to serve our Country during the World War II. You need to read his book to really appreciate what he did for our county as a Veteran in Combat and time spent as a Prisoner of War (POW). Call Carol Whetzel to purchase a copy of this book. I was very fortunate to have spend sometime with him. Come to his funeral to hear my "short" story.

It was with sadness that we learned of Mr. Whetzel's passing. A true example of the Greatest Generation who overcame the struggles of the Great Depression and was a first-person participant of the European battles of World War II. We will greatly miss Mr. Whetzel's participation at our annual veteran event at the American Military Heritage Museum near Stephens City. Mission accomplished Mr. Whetzel; rest in peace.
