Carl E. Wismer, Jr.
Carl Edward Wismer, Jr., 93, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Sunday, December 30, 2012, in Winchester Medical Center.
Mr. Wismer was born in 1919, in Washington, D.C., the son of the late Carl E. and Harriet Wismer, Sr. Mr. Wismer was a graduate of George Washington University where he received a Degree in Accounting and Finance. He was a Veteran having served in the United States Army during World War II, achieving the rank of Staff Sargent. Mr. Wismer was awarded the Marksman Medal. Mr. Wismer was a retired Accountant with the United States Government.
He married Jean Bowers on May 1, 1947, in Arlington, Virginia. She preceded him in death on October 16, 1999.
Surviving is his daughter, Christine Greenawalt of Orlando, Florida; sons, Don Wismer and wife, Teri, of Stephens City, Lawrence Wismer and wife, Christina, of Glendora, California; grandchildren, Jason Wismer of Stephens City, Lori Hazelwood of White Post, Brian Wismer and Michael Wismer both of Stephens City, Elizabeth Kees and Edith Howerton both of Hagerstown, Maryland, Sara Howerton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Jeffrey Wismer of Arlington and Jonathan Wismer of Glendora, California; and nine great grandchildren.
His daughter, Linda Howerton and brother, Paul Wismer, preceded him in death.
A funeral will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, at Omps Funeral Home, Amherst Chapel with Pastor Stan Steele of Sr. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Hagerstown, Maryland, officiating. Interment will be private.
