Bradley W. Perry
Bradley Wilbur Perry, a resident of Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury in Winchester, VA, for over 6 years, died on Wednesday, November 27, 2013.
Brad was born in Staunton, VA, on July 25, 1938, the son of William J. Perry, III and Virginia W. Perry.
Brad attended Staunton Public Schools until he went to Woodberry Forest, followed by a BA from Williams College, a PhD from Columbia University and post-doctoral work at the University of California-Berkley, all in physics.
Brad taught physics at Trinity College in Harford, CT, before transitioning to economics analysis as a post-doctoral Fellow at Yale’s Institute for Social and Policy Studies, followed by four years in environmental sciences at the University of Virginia. In 1972, he joined the consulting firm Chase Economics just outside of Philadelphia, later moving to Townsend Greenspan, the firm headed by Alan Greenspan. In 1987 Brad returned to Philadelphia and Wharton Econometrics and its successive incarnations until retiring in 2002.
A lifelong musician, Brad began singing and playing guitar while attending Woodberry Forest and continued in college and with family and friends for many years. Brad was an active member in the Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church, Senior Choir, the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia, The Arts Chorale of Winchester and the Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury Choristers. As a member of the BMPC, he was active in the Worldwide Mission Council for over 20 years. Brad’s other interests included international travel for business, choir trips and visits to his family and friends in England, Europe and South America
Brad is survived by his wife of fifty years, Katherine Sproul Perry, his brother, William J. Perry, IV of Boulder Colorado, daughter, Julia and her husband, Richard Lawrence and their children, Magnus and Virginia Lawrence of Chipping Sodbury, England; son, Keith M. Perry of Santa Clara, CA and his children, Tazwell and Harleigh Perry also of Santa Clara.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1:00 PM on Tuesday in the Chapel at Shenandoah Valley Westminster Canterbury, with Chaplain Elizabeth Lewis officiating. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Shenandoah Valley Fellowship Fund, 300 Westminster Canterbury Drive, Winchester, VA. 22603.
