Bonnie E. Hagy
Bonnie Elizabeth Hagy, age 63, of Stephens City, VA, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at Winchester Medical Center. Mrs. Hagy was born in Covington, VA, the daughter of Bonnie Marie Persinger and the late Dewey Persinger. She worked for the Department of Defense for several years, but she was happiest when she was fulfilling her role as mother and wife as a homemaker. She attended Victory Church.
She married Ellis Dixon Hagy, Jr. on January 27, 1968 in Baltimore, MD. The couple had just celebrated 44 years of marriage that produced two children and two granchildren.
Surviving with her husband is a son, Ellis D. Hagy, III of Stephens City, VA; a daughter, Morgan (Mary) Chambers and husband, Randy, of Alexandria, VA; two grandchildren, Maranda Elizabeth Chambers and Scott Ellis Chambers, both of Alexandria; and three sisters, Dorothy Totty and Barbara Hall, both of Baltimore, MD, and Geri Fineagan of Edgewood, MD. A beloved sister, Carolyn Grubbs, preceded her in death
Mrs. Hagy always treasured the Virginian countryside and frequented Skyline Drive and other scenic routes. She loved beautiful landscapes and she spent countless hours digging in the soil at her home. She loved children and often would be seen chatting with the neighborhood children. She was a delight to those who knew her.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at Victory Church with Pastor Lenny Burdick officiating. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 until 6:00 P.M. prior to the service.
Memorial contributions in honor of Mrs. Hagy may be made to Victory Church in lieu of flowers. The church is located at 2870 Middle Road in Winchester, (540) 667-9400.
