Billy H. Stone

            Billy Harold Stone, 86, of Stephens City, Virginia, died Thursday, December 11, 2014 at the Winchester Medical Center.

            Mr. Stone was born in 1928 in Draudy, West Virginia, the son of the late Charles and Augusta Pitsenberger. He graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He was a veteran of the United States Army, and was employed as a claims adjuster for Goodyear Tire and Rubber until his retirement in 1987. He was a very active man who enjoyed exercising, especially playing tennis and basketball, and was an avid vegetable gardener. He also started the Homeowners’ Association in the Autumn Glen Community.

            Mr. Stone married Carrie (Sherhag) Stone on October 9, 1954 in Akron, Ohio.

            Surviving with his wife is a son, Richard L. Stone and wife, Mary Ellen, of Manassas, VA, two granddaughters, Alicia L. Stone, and Stephanie A. Farr (husband Jason) and a great granddaughter, Shelby Farr.

            He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara A. Rice, and a sister, Patti Prins.

            The family will receive friends prior to the service on Tuesday from 12:30 – 2:00 PM at Omps Funeral Home, South Chapel.

            A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
